Great pictures! I'm almost convinced to but Chesterfield Inlet on my "someday list" (got to love being a Northern teacher who is always on the move).

Yellowknife I think has about the same amount of security as Iqaluit, which is about the same for here in Whitehorse. Very minimal. I know in Nunavut, the only time I ever had to go through security is when I was flying down to Ottawa / Montreal / Winnipeg. But flights between communities, no security check.

Oh yes, Nothern Internet - how I don't miss Qiniq. I always went over my limit and always wound up dishing out the 30$ per extra GB. Good Luck! There has been many posts regarding internet in Nunavut by many of us bloggers. You pain is well shared.

We loved Ben's shop when we were there - it was the only place to get slurpies before the co-op started selling them! And as for Yellowknife airport - if you are flying from the south to a northern community you don't go through security, but if you are flying from the north to the south you do go through security.

<a href="#comment-95" rel="nofollow">@Etienne </a>
When I was there (10 years ago), Yellowknife was unsecure if you headed north. However, you had to go through security if heading south

How about no security at all. All the airports in the north are unsecured. We heard that even Yellowknife is unsecured.... but that's unconfirmed.

great pics!! i'm guessing going to the airport must be pretty easy? no huge lines/crazy security, u could probably get up 1/2 beforehand and walk over there? don't have to worry about parking? lol
