SO EXCITED!!
Before we moved up here we had discussed what items we really wanted to purchase while here. A polar bear hide being one of them.
When we first got here it seemed that we may not be able to purchase one. There was question as to how many tags would be issued to Chester this year. Being new to the community, I didn’t know if we would even be considered when they were looking to sell. Well 8 tags were issued, and the first bear was shot a little while ago. We were lucky enough to get our name out there enough and actually purchase it! It is a 7 foot bear. Right in the size we wanted. We didn’t want anything too big. So now the next step is to find a taxidermist in Winnipeg. If anyone knows of a good taxidermist in Winnipeg, please let us know.
I would post pictures, but as I type this, the bear is currently frozen in a deep freeze. It wouldn’t turn into anything worth looking at. So here’s hoping that within the next 8 months or so I will have pictures of it actually hanging in our house!

Thats great to hear guys! Just wondering how much you paid for it as I have been looking for a polar bear hide as well. Best of luck finding a taxidermist!
Cheers,

That is so sad!! But I guess if that is what you want. Do the people there eat the meat and just give you the hide?

Yes, they eat the meat.
