Sun, Sand and beaches!!

Today we decide to take advantage of the (somewhat) nice weather. It was snowing this morning when we went to the dump, but it tapered off pretty quickly. There was very little wind today, which seems to be a rare occasion here. Etienne and I decided to go for a short drive around Mission Lake before we headed out with our neighbors to do a little fishing.

We took a drive up the the “drinking tower”. It is actually just a tower with the Coast Guard’s Beacon on it. Apparently people will head out to the tower and drink. They actually climb the tower as well. We also drove out to “the point” This is where the actual Chesterfield Inlet is. This is where we were able to enjoy the sunny day on the beach with the waves crashing on our feet…….Northern Style!! It doesn’t matter that I needed to be wearing a coat, toque, mitts, rubber boots and rain pants!!, I still got to enjoy the beach today! We also passed the Anglican Cemetery. There isn’t much there. There appeared to be maybe a dozen graves.

After our drive we headed out with our neighbors to our fishing spot. This time we decided to take the dog with us. Before we moved up here we bought a seatbelt harness for her. We figured it would work just as well on the quad. So we loaded her up with us and drove out. It was quite cool out today, but we still enjoyed ourselves none the less. The dog seemed to really enjoy the honda ride. We caught one Arctic Char. Nothing too exciting. It was still really nice to enjoy the day outside. Winter is just around the corner, so we’re trying to enjoy every day of nice weather we have before the snow decides to stick around.
