Partial Success
So I decided to brave the -20ºc (-35º with windchill) weather today and take the dog outside to play.
I think she’s been feeling restless and cooped up the past couple of days. I got myself all bundled up and then put her “booties” on. She wasn’t happy initially, but once she realized we were outside and she could run around and play in the snow, she decided the booties weren’t that bad. He front ones fell off quite quickly. I think they’re too big for her (I need too see if the company has a return or exchange policy), but her back ones stayed on. We stayed out for just over half an hour before she started to show signs of getting cold. By the end I don’t think she even realized she had them on anymore. It’s looking promising for those very cold days. She would have been just fine without the booties today, I just wanted to try and get her used to them.

We have rabbits living under our house. She's just small enough to fit. Yes, she crawls under the house!

Running in the snow

Frozen face...she didn't seem to mind

Maybe you could just buy some velcros (Lee Valley) that stick to themselves and put them tighter around her ankles to hold on the front ones on.

I bought Muttluks for my dogs as well before we transferred to Yellowknife, they always fall off as well… although my dogs are chihuahuas.
I am really enjoying you blog, it is always interesting to see how other member’s families are making out in the remote communities. Good luck!! And thanks for posting.
