Supper made with love….

So as I mentioned in the last post, yes, today is my birthday. We don’t need to discuss how old I am, just that another year has gone by. It was a really good day. It was nice to spend the day in the community instead of stuck inside. It finally warmed up today so it wasn’t so uninviting to go outside

Etienne made me supper tonight, and even did all the clean up. This is a very special treat for me. I am usually the one that cooks and cleans in the house. He does enjoy helping me in the kitchen, but definitely not with the clean up. So I am enjoying every minute of it. As I type this, he is meticulously cleaning the kitchen, he even has the dish towel thrown over his shoulder for the full effect!

It was a wonderful meal of steak, stuffed potatoes (minus the “shell”) and marinated veggie salad. It was all (as I said) “tres bon”.

Here are a few pictures…..

He wanted to do stuffed potatoes (twice baked potatoes) but at the last minute he decided that he wanted to try it this way instead. He baked them in the oven till they were crispy. They were really good!

Such a good job!

mmmm.....steak!

mmmm.....steak!

Now I have to admit that when we decided to move up here I said good-bye to our gas bbq. We used to cook with it almost daily. Then, I would have argued that there was  nothing better than bbg’d steak, chicken, etc. Now, I have found a method to cook steaks that both of us prefer over bbq’ing. I never thought I would say that, but it’s true. Nothing beats a good steak seared in a hot cast iron skillet and then finished off (to your doneness) in the oven!
