What the Blizzard left behind…..

So today the blizzard finally let up. It was the first time in 3 days that we were able to see more than 3 feet in front of us. There are still blizzard warnings, but the weather here is pretty good. It’s still -42Âșc with the windchill, but definitely tolerable. I was finally able to take the dog out to burn off a little energy.

The blizzard blew the snow around really well. All the houses are covered in snow. The snow drifts are pretty big as well.

Since the weather improved, the planes finally landed today. I think we received another 7 Christmas cards today!! Christmas is never-ending for us this year!

This afternoon, I was sitting in the house and I heard the snow plow clearing our yard. Then, all of a sudden, I felt the house shake! I guess he accidentally ran into our fuel tank! Thankfully he just hit the wood stand that it sits on, so no major damage. The shaking of the house even caused the dog to bark!!

Sadly, I only experienced two real blizzards during the time I was up in Nunavut — one in 2003 and a second in 2005. I think I must have lived in the only 2 communities that weren’t blizzard-prone.

I imagine that the snow must stay really clean up there and not get all black from road dirt.
