Herbs and Wolves…

So our first cycle of the Aerogarden is completed.  I have to say that overall I am very satisfied with it.

I wrote a post back in September about it. Read it here if you want.  The herbs grew for almost 4 months. That was pretty impressive. It wasn’t perfect but it did yeild enough for two of us. The Basil totally outgrew everything else, so i’ve been trying to use it in as many dishes as I can. The Thyme, Oregano and Mint did ok. I took a few pictures of what we ended up with in the end. I promise you that it is only herbs that are in the bags! I’m thankful that they freeze well. I’m sure Etienne and I will have them for a while. We are excited to plant our cherry tomatoes. However, we won’t plan it until we get back from our trip down south. Etienne is hoping to be approved through work to have his trip in March/April sometime. So stay tuned to see how our tomatoes do.

We have now purchased a Wolf. The Bear and Wolf are the two animals that we wanted to purchase while we’re up here. We’re hoping to send it down with our bear this week. We have found a taxidermist that we are going to send both the bear and wolf to.  It is Northland Taxidermy in Winnipeg. We have been referred to a few different places. What it came down to was shipping location. It was going to cost us way too much to send any farther. We haven’t seen any work of this location, but he’s been in the business for a long time and he seems genuine. So we’ll see what they look like when we get them back. If we get the wolf down this week we should have it back soon. The bear may take up to a year before we get it. I guess i’m going to have to be patient for that one. Stay tuned for pictures of those.

I’m going publicly make a promise right now. As I wrote a few days ago, i’m heading to Alberta to visit family, friends and to teach a little bit. If we get our wish. Etienne will join me in mid-March and we will spend 4 weeks together in the south. This will ultimately mean that I will be away from the north for up to nine weeks! What am I going to do being away from my home, bed, kitchen for that long? I will make every effort to keep blogging during that time. It won’t be of our north experiences, but it will be about our visits with family and friends. I am promising right now not to let the blog go for nine weeks without activity.

Make some homemade pesto with the basil…it’s easy and awesome. I usually have some frozen in ice cube trays, then bagged. Good stuff…

Ha Ha Ha. When I first opened this page and glanced at the photos, it reminded me of the “wall of fame” the traffic unit at VV had of all the siezures. Sorry, but it did. I’ve been hanging out with cops waaaaaay to long apparently.
Very cool though and glad it worked. I was looking at the Aerogardens at Christmas time. Great idea!
