Oh Caribou where are you?

There were talks a couple days ago of us going out on the land during the weekend. Last night there was a blizzard watch for our area so we figured it probably wasn’t going to happen.

Well, by this morning, the watch was gone and the weather was really nice. Finally by about 11 we all decided to go out. Since we started talking about going out we’ve been saying that we should charge our camera battery so we don’t have a repeat of last time! Well, do you think we actually charged it? No…I’m thankful that we were able to get a few pictures in before the battery completely died.

It was actually a fairly nice day out. -21Âșc with very little wind. We went out about 10km’s out of town and stopped for a hot drink before heading back. It’s a good thing we got back when we did. The bad weather was following us back to town.

We were really hoping to be able to catch sight of a few caribou. There have been a few spotted and hunted right where we went out today, so we were hopeful. The closest we came to seeing them was their fresh tracks and poo. Oh well, hopefully one day we’ll see one.

That’s a great photo. Maybe you should consider buying a spare camera battery. We have two and that helps a lot.
