Huh….where am I now?

Well it’s been almost 2 weeks since I left Chester. I am already tired of being in a plane or airport. Friday I actually had to think about where I was when I landed. I still have 5 more flights before we are back home. I have actually thought about adding up the amount of kms I’ve traveled once I’m back at home. I’m scared to see what that grand total will be.

My first week here was busy, but good. I got to catch up with a few people. I did have my priorities though! My hairdresser was my very first stop. Then I had to get winter tires….That was Etienne’s priority for me! I taught the first weekend I was here and it went pretty good. It didn’t take long to get back into the groove of things. I have one more course to teach next weekend.

Last week I was in Penticton, BC visiting a friend. We didn’t do anything crazy, and I was very thankful for that. We did go to a wine tasting. Neither of us are wine drinkers at all, but we figured this was a good place to start. I’m thinking that either we both have had some really bad wine in the past, or we were both in serious need of a drink because all 5 of the wines we tasted were very good! We even got to taste a sparkling wine that they made specifically for the Olympics. Apparently it’s what they are serving the athletes? Or so we were told. It was a great visit and as always, I was sad to say good-bye. We have been friends since elementary school, and we only seem to be moving farther away from each other. So I always enjoy the time we get to spend together.

This week I’m heading back to Etienne and I’s old stomping grounds. Valleyview, Ab. Not excited to be going back to that town, but I am excited to see all the wonderful people we said good-bye to when we moved.

Yesterday a couple of my cousins came over with their new babies. A few of my aunts also came. It was great to see family again. We had a great afternoon catching up.

I have included a few pictures we took while I was in Penticton. Hope you enjoy them.  From the pictures you would never know that they were taken in the middle of February. The weather was fantastic while I was there.

I will try to write another post again when things calm down again.

    FYI-
Legend has it that the sea monster named Ogopogo lives in the depths of Lake Okanagan. Somewhat like Nessie.

Also the big ship on the shore is called the S.S. Sicamous and was used in early years to transport people across Lake Okanagan from Penticton to Kelowna. Not sure why it is called the S.S. Sicamous seeing as Sicamous is on the Shushwap Lakes but it is now on Okanagan Beach in Penticton. You can go aboard for dinner theatre and special events. Just goes to show how deep the lake is when a boat like that can float around it.

If you ever travel to the Okanagan in the BC interior, you will have the choice of about 125 wineries to spend your afternoon at within a 50km radius. So next time you come Carly, we will try some more.

It was great to have you here. Can’t wait until you can come again. Mya woke up the next morning waiting for you to wake up and come upstairs. Then later in the day she saw an airplane in the air and got all excited that Carly’s airplane was coming.

The hair looks great! Riesling is my favorite wine and I see that you got to see some riesling grapes. I hope the wine was good.
