Seriously?!??!

These are days that I am very glad we will only be doing this amount of traveling a couple times a year! What a few couple of days they have been!

My flight from Chester to Winnipeg was uneventful. We were on time and no problems throughout the flight. The sky was beautiful and the sunset even more so.

My flight from Winnipeg to Edmonton was a complete different story. We left about half an hour late. Once we got to Edmonton there was heavy fog. We ended up circling over Nisku for about half an hour or so until they decided that we were going to fly to Calgary instead. No big deal. It was only 9am and I had until 4pm to make my appointment. We landed in Calgary and they encouraged us to wait on the plane for the fog in Edmonton to clear up and then we’d head back to Edmonton. After about an hour they decided that we needed to get off the plane and reschedule our flight! So we all get off and wait for our luggage. Then we all headed to re-book our flights. After waiting in line for about an hour a man came around with a piece of paper saying that we needed to call that number to rebook, he said it was going to be quicker than waiting in line. Well that’s all fine and dandy for those who have a cell phone and could stand in line and sit on the phone as well. As I do not have a cell phone, I left the line-up to find a pay phone to phone this number. Well, after waiting for about 10 minutes I decided it was ridiculous, so I hung up and went back into line. After waiting for another half an hour or so I finally had my turn to reschedule. After discussions of whether or not Edmonton had re-opened the airport, they rebooked me on a flight a couple hours later.  The one saving grace was that I ran into my aunt at the airport. It was nice to chat with a familiar face while waiting in line. While all this was going on my poor Dad was waiting at the Edmonton airport. Since I didn’t have a cell phone and they didn’t let us off the plane, it took me 2 hours before I could call him to let him know what was going on. On his end our flight said that it was delayed, and then that it had arrived! It never updated saying that we were re-routed.  How frustrating for him.

Once I finally landed in Edmonton, it was time to go to the storage place to pick up my car. Well, when we got there I realized that Etienne had given me the wrong key. So we had to drive into Edmonton and pick up our spare key that we (thankfully) left at my mom’s. Then we headed back out to Nisku to pick up my car. You can only imagine how relieved I was when my car started no problem! It would have been the only thing left to go wrong for the day!! lol.

Well, this morning I had a 9am appointment to get winter tires put on my car. So I head out only to find out that my car won’t start!!! Can my luck get any better?!?! All my lights, radio and everything came on, it just wouldn’t start. So I called the 24 hour roadside assistance and they sent someone out to tell me that my starter is fried! Ugh….this will be the third starter in a year on a brand new vehicle!! So off we go, towing my car to the dealership. So I had to cancel my tire appointment. As I sit and type this, I am waiting for the shuttle vehicle to pick me up and take me back to the dealership to pick up my car. Keep your fingers crossed that I have no more issues. This trip can only get better from here right??? Here’s to hoping!!

On a good note, I finally got my hair done today. My hairdresser hacked off about 6 inches!! It feels so good to have my cut, colored and styled!

Oh right…..I almost forgot, my computer also stopped working for me last night when I got here! I have everything on there. All my passwords, my schedule while I’m down here, pictures and videos I wanted to show friends and family while we’re here. Good thing we back up my computer. I guess I’m making an appointment with a Genius at Apple to hopefully fix my computer!

I didn’t get a chance to post this before the shuttle got here. So I now have my car back…they even washed it for free. Now all the grasshoppers are gone! I just finished eating a fantastic meal, going to watch a little TV and head to bed. Here’s to hoping tomorrow brings a better day.

Sounds like the kind of day I had on my way up North. But I got pulled off planes because they couldn’t fit my dogs crate on the plane or they lost him. I’m having our neighbour start my car and so far so good. Good luck on the rest of your trip!

OMG! That is just too much. I will definitely be booking us a wine tour when you get here. Maybe I should book one every day!

You should have called me from Calgary and I would have picked you up and drove you to Edmonton. Next time (of course there won’t be a next time, fingers crossed) keep me in mind, I would have done it for you.
Glad you arrived safe and sound though and like you said things can only get better. LOL

We talked to one of the guys at Volkswagen about your starter problems. Apparently there were a series of cars with that problem and he suspects some of the problem starters were in the parts shipments as well, so your defective starter was probably replaced with a defective starter. He said the problem has been fixed. Let’s just hope all the defective parts have been eliminated as well.
