A great beginning to a funfilled long weekend

This long weekend is probably going to be one of the busiest weekends we’ve had up here so far. This weekend is the fishing derby with judging happening tomorrow night. Activities will continue into this week as well. I’m not going to spoil my future blog posts so you will have to check back daily to see what is going on in town. There are some exciting things happening.

We heard the other day that the roads to first and third lake are finally clear. Yesterday we took the opportunity to hop on the hondas and take a drive. Since the fishing derby is going on we were expecting to see a few people out fishing. We made it to first lake and decided to just hang out and relax. When we decided to leave, I got the RZR a little stuck!! You’ll see from the below pictures that Etienne had to winch me out! lol. We also took a few pictures with the Inukshuk that was nearby. From first lake we headed back on the hondas and went to third lake. Here we stopped and had enjoyed a hot cup of tea. It was a really nice day out. We did see a few people fishing on first lake. On our way back we spotted a few birds that we didn’t recognize. Pardon our ignorance (birds haven’t really been a big interest of mine) but we still aren’t sure exactly what we saw. If anyone recognizes what we saw in our last picture please let us know.

Oops....just a little stuck...

Finally unstuck....unhooking the winch

Sand hill cranes! (I think) You’ll see more of them in the summer and fall… huge eh?
