Round 2!!
We had a successful round of growing herbs in our Aerogarden, so we decided to try something else. On May 10th we planted Cherry Tomato plants. I have to say that initially I am impressed with the success so far! It is only 10 days into growing and we already have significant growth. It says that within 12-14 weeks we should be able to start harvesting! I’m excited to have fresh cherry tomatoes this summer. I’m sure Etienne and I are going to have to set ground rules on who gets to pick them when. We both love tomatoes, so I’m sure it’s going to be a race to see who can catch them when they’re ripe first.
Here is what our plants look like at 10 days…..
As you can see, there are only 2 plants. The rest are “spacers”. The lamp hood raises to a few feet so the plants have lots of room to grow. We also purchased a Trellis system to help hold our plants upright once they grow taller. Can’t wait!

Do any of the locals do things like this? Keep us posted on the progress and make sure to take a photo of the first tomato!
Looks great! I don’t know much about growing tomatoes. I grew some BIG tomato plants but no tomatoes (it still smelled great). I think you need to use a cheap paint brush or something to pollinate the plant (assuming you won’t have any insects in your apartment to do this job). Brush the flowers when they appear and then brush on several main branches.
Good luck! Fresh tomatoes are the best!
Your plants are about the same size as the ones I bought for planting. Will have to see who gets flowers and tomatoes first.
