Summer is on its way!!

I can tell that summer is coming! Since we’ve had above freezing temperatures for the past while, the snow has been rapidly disappearing! This has made for some wet and muddy areas. It has also made me want to be outside more than inside. I usually take Cisco out to play in the afternoon. Then after supper, I drag Etienne out to go for a walk. It is so nice to be able to be out at 7pm and the sun is still shinning just as bright as at noon. The long days have made for a little adjustment in sleeping patterns, but overall the change is welcomed by me. I can’t wait until the bay is melted and we can see the water again. I’m sure Cisco will be very happy to swim.

The long days have also given me way more energy. I have finally got back on the treadmill and back on track with my eating habits. Over the winter it’s so easy to plant yourself down in front of the TV and snack. When the sun goes down at 3pm, there really isn’t much to do. It feels so good to be doing something again. I’m not wanting to really lose a lot of weight, just get back into shape.

Last night we went over to a friends place and ended up hanging out until 1am!! It was so weird to walk home in the light. Below is a picture that I took when we got home shortly after 1.

Are there any special activities for the summer solstice?

For the winter, maybe having a Wii Fit would be good? Or does the darkness zap your energy too much to do that? I’m sure it’s pretty cool to have 24h sunlight though! I would stay up all night for at least one night just to see how it feels. I’ve stayed up all night due to New Year’s one time, but I would think it’s entirely different to stay up all night while it’s still light out…maybe easier!

    Enjoy the sun!

good job Carly getting back on the treadmill!! Before you know it all the snow will be gone and u can run outside too!! Then u’ll just have to drag Etienne to run outside with cisco and you instead of walking in the evening! ;) good luck!
