Another First….
A friend of mine is up visiting for the week. We spent this evening driving around and showing her the sights. She must be a good luck charm because ever since she got here, only good things have been happening. Our foodmail arrived and an item I’ve been ordering for probably 6 weeks, finally came! Who would have thought that fresh green beans were that hard to get?? We also (Finally) received spinach and spring mix lettuce that wasn’t expired. For the past 4 weeks or so, it has shown up with a past expiry date. I have made Safeway aware that I’m receiving expired items and I also write on my order to ensure an adequate date, but it still shows up expired. I can usually salvage most of it, so I still continue to order it. Well today, it all showed up with an expiry date that is still a week away!! Short of missing 1 box, everything I ordered showed up. I’ve asked my friend if she’s willing to stay around permanently!! I could use good luck more often….Anyways, as I totally digress….The reason I am writing this post is because I finally saw an Arctic Fox! We were driving around and I saw something moving off in the distance. It took a while before Christy or Etienne noticed what I was pointing at. Once we all saw it and got a little closer we realized what it was. We actually ended up spotting 3 of them. The last 2 appeared to be very young! So cool. I wonder what Cisco would do if she came across one?
Here are a few pictures of the Arctic fox, as well as a few pictures we took while driving around.

What an amazing sight!
I’m loving reading about your adventures up north (stumbled across this via one of the other northern blogs I love to check in with).
Thanks for sharing
Nice photos. Does Safeway give you credits for the stuff that is spoiled or doesn’t show up?
Aww… those foxes are pretty cute.
Be careful of the spring mix lettuce, the news last night just said there is a recall on all of that stuff for salmonella or ecolie can’t remember which now and was the stuff in Alberta and across Canada. So you might want to check before you eat it. Sounds like Christy is going to have a good time there since everthing is coming out to meet her.
further to my comment above below is the warning ! ! ! Sorry I know you just finally got it but hate to see everyone get sick. So if your bag says Fresh Express DON’T EAT IT ! !
It is being reported that Fresh Express lettuce maybe contaminated with E. coli bacteria and the product is being recalled for safety precautions.
The company is recalling three to six ounce products containing the possibly contaminated lettuce, including Romaine hearts and premium Romaine salad mixes amongst others.
The company distributed the lettuce in question across the state of California as well as to a number of other states west of the Mississippi River.
Nobody has reported falling ill as of yet from eating any of the contaminated products, a good indicator for sure.
All the products being recalled have the expiration use-by date of July 8th through July 12th, and a Fresh Express Product Code with an “S.”
Anybody with questions pertaining to the recall can contact the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center at (800) 242-5472
Thanks for the info, we checked and ours is outside of the expiry dates
Carly, you look awesome!!!! good job!!keep up the running!!!
