First Ship of the Year
Sometimes I feel like the ugly kid at school that always seems to be a day behind everyone one else. I’ve been reading a lot of blogs over the past month that ships are arriving in their communities. Everything from fuel ships to barges.
Well, yesterday, Chester finally had their first ship. I know it seems silly to be so excited about a ship, but it is really cool to see something so big so close to town. We could see it from our back door. I took advantage of low tide and went out with the dog and took a few pictures of the ship while it was here. This ship came from Montreal and was mostly bringing supplies to the Northern Store.
We have heard rumor that the barge with our stuff on it should be here close to mid-August. I look forward to that getting here. I’m very thankful that it shouldn’t hit below freezing at that time, so our pop hopefully won’t freeze and explode all over our bathroom again! I really don’t want to relive that experience a second time!! If you would like to relive that experience, you can read it here.

While I do not live in the north – but in Ottawa, I used to work in an isolated mine in the Queen Charlotte Islands off BC. I can remember the excitement when the supply ship would come in ….I also remember the time there was a Vancouver Tug Boat strike and the general disappointment when it was learned the ship could not come.
Glad to hear of your good tidings.

I had the immediate same thought as you about the freezing of your stuff. Hopefully it does come on time this year and everything is okay.

We should have our third container ship on August 18th. There was a cruise ship here in July but missed it because I was holidaying.
