Bienvenue à Chesterfield Inlet!

This past week, we welcomed a newcomer to the community.

Etienne now has a new boss, Mario. He came from Montreal to our little community.  His girlfriend, Lise, will join him in a few months and we look forward to meeting her then. I think Etienne is looking forward to being able to speak French more regularly now. The last little while he’s been saying that he’s starting to feel “rusty” in his french. I find this hard to believe as his first language is french, but I’m sure it has to be hard for him not to speak it at all up here. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why I don’t speak french so we can speak it at home? Well, we tried to teach me, and it just didn’t work. I’m impatient and easily frustrated and so is he, it usually ends up in a “heated” discussion between us. We have agreed to leave it until we move back down south and I will take french lessons from a professional and be able to practice at home. In the meantime, I still continue to read our french recipes and all of our spices/baking goods are in mason jars with labels that are in french. So I know how that much in french! lol. But, you never know, since Mario and Etienne speak both languages and from what we understand, Lise isn’t fluent in English, I may be able to pick up a little more :) . Anyways, as I totally digress from the actual topic.  We took advantage of the (very) warm weather yesterday and went out fishing with Mario. It must be newcomers luck because he caught 2 trout and we caught nothing!

We really hope they love this community as much as we do. Bienvenue à Chesterfield Inlet. Au plaisir de te rencontrer, Lise.

    Hello Carly,
Depuis que Mario m’a parlé de ton site je le lis régulièrement et te trouve très intéressante; de plus, tu parles un anglais assez facile à traduire.
    Continue ton beau travail…..
