Our Second Visitors

Etienne’s parents decided to make the long, dreadful flight up here. They were here for the first week of September.

We were blessed with sunshine every day they were here. A couple of days were windy and a little chilly, but overall we had great weather! The best part was that Etienne was able to take a couple days off work to spend the time with his parents. (Thank you Mario!!).

We spent some time showing them the “sights” of Chester. Believe it or not, this took a couple of days. We drove around town, out to all the lakes that are accessible by road, the dock, etc. They even got to see a barge arrive (you can read more about that here). On their last full day here we spent the day out at third lake (post to follow).

On their last night here, I went to let the dog out one last time before bed and I just happened to look up and saw some impressive Northern Lights. I gathered everyone up and we went outside to take a look. They were probably the best we’ve seen up here. I have heard from a few people around town at how impressive they were that night. It was a great experience for their last night here! The next afternoon, the school had brought the kayaks and equipment to Police lake so that anyone in the community could come and try out kayaking. We all went out to check things out. There were quite a few people there, watching and trying out the kayaks. Mario even decided to put on a dry suit and take a turn!

We definitely enjoyed their company! It was great to have them here and let them experience a little bit of Northern life!! Thank you guys for coming!! The house was definitely empty when you left.

They've landed!

Good for them for getting up there, I am glad that the weather held out and they got to see the sights. I am sure you and Etienne were excellent hosts and they enjoyed their visit. Hopefully Dave and I make it up in the Spring and you guys get to do it all over again.

We loved our visit. It always always rains when we take a vacation, but you guys provided a week of sunshine. We made lots of memories while we were there. Thanks so much for inviting us.

@Michael: Glad you like my tuque — I needed it!

Thankfully you had GREAT weather while you were here… you’ll have to come back during the “winter” ;)

@Ana – I’m not sure I could handle that. Montreal winters are about my limit. But I agree the weather was wonderful — Beautiful November days.
